The Pathfinder Center opened its doors in February of the year 2000, with a three-fold mission:
- To become a national headquarters for the Pathfinder Retreat movement.
- To become a parish of the Ecunumenical Catholic Church, a Community of the Risen Christ.
- To become a Center for furthering education, the arts, and spiritual evolvement.
What is the Pathfinder Retreat Movement all about?
Father Ned Reidy created this unique retreat 25 years ago right here in Palm Desert and to this date, there have been 44 weekends with, at times, about one hundred people attending each one.
This is a very successful, warm, and welcoming retreat which brings together teens, young adults, parentsand their adolescent children (13 is the minimum age), grandparents, as well as the marginalized and overlooked; certainly, all those who have given up on God or certain aspects of religion.
During this 44 hour time together (Friday evening through Sunday afternoon), participants are invited to appreciate, often for the first time, spirituality and the divine presence which lives in all peoples. They are encouraged to acknowledge their own stories, share in and learn from the stories of others, and awaken to God's story as it related to their life's path.
Through rituals of light and darkness, breaking of bread, dance, music, theater, and prayer, a communal support experience may occur which can effect a deep change for good in one's life, one's family, one's profession, and one's own spiritual journey.
THE RETREATS ARE HELD AT THE BEAUTIFUL PATHFINDER RANCH, LOCATED IN GARNER VALLEY. Less than an hour away from Palm Desert, this peaceful mountain setting complements the process of spiritual discovery and renewal. Pathfinder Retreats are held three times a year.
